PIOTR STRZEMIECZNY: Mamy święta. Jak je spędzasz?
MARCELO DOS REIS: Cześć FYH, witaj Piotrze, mam nadzieję, że wszystko u was w porządku. To prawda, mamy święta i jak chyba wszyscy spędzam je z rodziną i przyjaciółmi. W tym roku dzielę je na dwa miejsca: na wyspie Terceira na Azorach i w Lizbonie, razem z moimi rodzicami.
Masz jakieś specjalne świąteczne tradycje w domu?
Zawsze wykorzystuję tę porę roku na relaks, daje mi to dawne uczucie bycia w domu, jak dziecko, które czuje się chronione przed wszystkim z moimi bliskimi. Myślę, że to jest to, co najbardziej czerpię z Bożego Narodzenia, oczywiście gotowanie, jedzenie, wino i dobre wibracje w całym domu. Wierzę, że o to właśnie chodzi, o dzielenie się dobrymi chwilami i tworzenie dobrych wspomnień z najbliższymi.
Ulubiona świąteczna piosenka i film?
Nigdy nie myślałem o ulubionych filmach i piosenkach świątecznych, ale… Jeśli chodzi o filmy, to myślę, że mamy trochę Gwiezdnych Wojen i Władcy Pierścienia jako takich moich guilty pleasures na te dni i muzyki, której szczerze mówiąc nie znam, ale odkąd te filmowe trylogie są wokół mnie, ich ścieżki dźwiękowe mogą być naszą świąteczną muzyką, a Howard Shore i John Williams to klasycy.
Jaki był dla ciebie rok 2021?
Rok zaczął się trochę przerażająco, dostałem Covid-19, a potem zamknąłem się jeszcze na dwa miesiące w domu, ale potem wszystko zaczęło działać dobrze i miałem wspaniały rok, wydałem pięć płyt, zrobiłem dużo muzyki dla teatru i kina. Zagrałem dziesiątki koncertów, dużo skomponowałem w tym roku i zebrałem jeszcze więcej pomysłów niż wcześniej, więc mam teraz wiele planów, a to sprawia, że jestem bardziej skoncentrowany niż kiedykolwiek.
Jak epidemia wpłynęła na Ciebie i Twoje życie?
Myślę, że wpłynęło to na nas wszystkich. Po pierwsze społecznie, rzeczy nadal są super dziwne. Myślę, że wszystkie te nowe procedury nie są normalne i przeraża mnie, że one są. Myślę, że powinniśmy szanować sytuację, ale też powinniśmy zapytać siebie i rządy, co się dzieje. Więc myślę, że nie powinniśmy brać naszej wolności za pewnik. Powinniśmy być bezpieczni, ale także świadomi, że wiele osób cierpi z tego powodu, finansowo, psychicznie i powinniśmy starać się pomagać i wspierać ludzi najlepiej jak potrafimy. Bogatsze kraje powinny być bardziej wrażliwe na biedniejsze narody, działać i pomagać. Myślę, że to jeden z kluczy.
Jakie masz plany na 2022 rok?
Jak zawsze chcę grać więcej niż mogę. Muzyka jest tym, co sprawia, że rozwijam się i nadaje wszystkiemu najpiękniejszy sens. Ale poza tym mam kilka nowych wydawnictw na 2022 rok, nowy materiał solowy, zaplanowałem więcej nowej muzyki do teatru i kina i oczywiście koncerty. Zobaczmy, czy moja droga zabierze mnie z powrotem do Polski. Wspaniale było być w tym roku w klubie Dragon w Poznaniu w ramach Spontaneous Music Festiva. Mam nadzieję, że niedługo się spotkamy.

PIOTR STRZEMIECZNY: It’s Christmas. How do you spend it?
MARCELO DOS REIS: Hello FYH and Piotr, Hope you’re all fine. It’s true, the Christmas it’s here and like almost everyone, i’m spending it with family and friends, this year splitted between two places, Terceira Island in Açores, and then in Lisbon, together with my parents.
Do you have any special Christmas traditions at home?
I always take this time period of the year to relax, it brings me the old feeling of being at home, like a kid feeling myself protected from everything with my beloved ones, i think that’s what i take most from Christmas time, of course the cooking, food, wine and good vibes all around the house. I believe that’s the real thing, sharing good times and creating good memories with the beloved ones.
Your favorite Christmas movies and songs?
I never thought about favorite Christmas movies and songs, but…About the movies, i think we have a bit of Star Wars and LOTR as guilty pleasures for those days and music i honestly don’t know, but since this movies trilogys are a bit around, their OST can be our Christmas Music, and Howard Shore and John WIilliams are classics.
What year 2021 was for you?
The year started a bit scary, i got Covid, and then locked down two more months at home, but then things started to work well, and i had a great year, released five records, did a lot of music for theatre and cinema, played dozens of concerts, i composed a lot this year and kind of gathered even more ideas than before, so lot of plans around my head right now, and that’s making me be more focused than ever.
How did the epidemic affect you and your life?
I guess it affected all of us, first socially the things still super weird, i think all this new procedures are not normal, and it scares me that we are starting to think that they are, i think we should respect the situation, but we also should ask ourselves and the governments what’s happening. So i guess we should not take our freedom for granted. We should be safe but also aware, lot of people are suffering with this, financially, psychologically and we should try to help and support the people the best we can. Richer countries should be more sensitive with the poorer nations and act and help, i think it’s one of the keys.
What are your plans for 2022?
As always, i want to play the more i can, music is what makes me thrive and gives the most beautiful sense to all. But apart from that, i have some new releases for 2022, new solo material, have scheduled more new music for theatre and cinema and of course concerts, lets see if my path takes me back to Poland, was great to be this year at Dragon in Poznań as part of the Spontaneous Music Festival, i really wish we can meet up soon.
